This is our third blog in this ongoing series on chiropractic care before, during and after pregnancy. During this blog, we’re going to talk more about the birth experience and the post-partum stages that a new mom may expect, as well as chiropractic care for your newborn.
Ladies, are you thinking of having a baby? Are you making plans for your next pregnancy, or considering having your first child? Did you know that chiropractic care can be an important element of your prenatal and postnatal health plans? We’ll help you get your spine and central nervous system in tip-top shape first, before you conceive.
We are seeing lots of pregnant mamas at Rushmore Family Chiropractic! We love treating entire families and offering chiropractic and wellness solutions to the very young, the very old and everyone in between.
Both Dr. Ashley Kauffman and Dr. Becky Beilstein have infants who are nursing (they gave birth to Owen and Aria last October – on the same day, in fact!). Many of our nursing patients have expressed worries about breastfeeding their newborns. We know what that’s like and are happy to offer solutions.
As your child grows older, becoming a pre-teen and an adolescent, you get to influence the choices they will make later in life. Your perspectives on health and wellness cannot help but spill over to your child, who will carry them into adulthood. One way to foster a spirit of self-care and a healthy relationship later with medical and wellness practices, is to introduce your kids to chiropractic care long before they turn eighteen.
After you have a baby, it is natural to feel different than you did before your pregnancy. Emotionally, mentally and physically you have gone through a great change and it will take time to develop a new normal but you’ll never be exactly the same person you were before you became pregnant. It helps to be aware of these expected changes during your pregnancy, especially if this is your first baby.
You think you’re doing nothing while you sleep, but your body is actually resetting and reprogramming itself during this crucial time. You’re not only resting - you’re recovering from the experiences of the day before and preparing for the day ahead. Babies, in particular, need restful sleep because this is the time when their bodies are programming them for their entire lives.
Dr. Kauffman and Dr. Bielstein adjust children, from infants just a few days old all the way up to teens and at every stage in between. As chiropractors, remember, we are whole-body practitioners. We know that spinal misalignment might be the root cause of a host of childhood illness, ailments, worries and concerns. We also know that proper spinal alignment may help children to excel in certain areas, and that includes in aptitude tests.
