Rushmore Family Chiropractic is dedicated to the health and wellbeing of families here in Rapid City and all of the Black Hills. Children are a special part of our practice. As health care practitioners, parents and members of our community, we understand how important the care of our kids is for all of us. As moms (and moms-to-be) we know your concerns. At each stage of their growth and development, children must have their health attended to in order to grow into happy, healthy adults.
Dr. Kauffman and Dr. Bielstein adjust children, from infants just a few days old all the way up to teens and at every stage in between. As chiropractors, remember, we are whole-body practitioners. We know that spinal misalignment might be the root cause of a host of childhood illness, ailments, worries and concerns. We also know that proper spinal alignment may help children to excel in certain areas, and that includes in aptitude tests.
From the moment that our little ones head off on their first happy days of school, we are grooming them toward success. We want them to learn how to handle challenges, to set goals for themselves, to understand competition and to feel good about themselves throughout their academic life. We also want them, eventually, to get an advanced education that sets them up for professional success.
There is no time like the present – whether your child is in high school, middle school or elementary school – for preparing them for the challenges of scholastic and aptitude tests. We know that there is scientific evidence that chiropractic care helps with the developing brain in school-age children. According to a recent study in Neural Plasticity, Chiropractic care may affect the prefrontal cortex of your child’s brain by up to 20%. The focus of chiropractic care is to allow the nervous system (consisting of your brain, spinal cord and nerves) to function without interference.
Subluxations are slight misalignments of the vertebrae which often impact the nerves around your spinal column. These misalignments are the root cause of many health problems. But a properly adjusted spinal column not only protects the nerves, but accelerates the movement of information through our nerves all the way up to our brain, and our prefrontal cortex. This helps information to easily flow, helping your child to face the challenges of scholastic and aptitude tests easily. It may help your child to feel more confident, as well. Testing isn’t fun but it doesn’t have to stress your kids out either.
Before your child faces their first aptitude testing in school, bring them for an evaluation with your chiropractor. Get a baseline adjustment first, learn more about how your child’s body optimally works and then we’ll continue to monitor them in the months and years to come. Whether it be your child’s physical development, their athletic abilities or academic achievements – we want to help prepare you for their success.
After all, your kids are our kids, too!
